SCOUT... WHO WORE MANY HATS
Alice Joanne Stevens studied art at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, studying under, among others, sculptor Harry Geffert. She met Henry Hopkins, then the administrator of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth when she worked there as a receptionist. During this time she was introduced to the work of artists like Edward Kienholz, Robert Irwin, Ed Moses and Donald Judd. This influenced her work to change from organic to a more architectural style. Having such a friend and mentor it isn’t surprising she was a fantastic artist. She was a photographer, potter and a jewelry maker and a with BA and MFA degrees in Metallurgy and Photography.
